WHAT TO EXPECT:
Very Fun and Rugged Trials
Dust, Dirt and Mud
At the start of the Knik Glacier trail is an old glacial moraine from thousands of years ago covered in a labyrinth of trails that take you to Jim Creek, the first viewpoint and major water crossing of our full-day Knik Glacier Tour. This 2 hour short tour is perfect for humans needing a quick break from the hum drum beat and smells of the concrete jungle.
This amazing trail covers many different terrains; wooded forest, sand dunes, and dried riverbeds. Along the way, you will see the braided Knik River backed by Pioneer Peak, a 6,398 foot peak that looks impressive from it's 200' base. You'll get amazing views of the distant Knik Glacier from atop it's ancient glacial moraine from thousands of years ago and finally the Salmon infested Jim Creek. The trail itself is well-defined yet rugged. You'll navigate tight wooded trails, wide open flats, roller coaster style trails and sand dune trails and other obstacles as our expert guides show you the way.
Whether you're a thrill-seeker looking for adventure or a family group looking for a very fun day trip, this is the trail you want. The vast trail system here allows us to cater the experience to you and your current offroading skill level.
As with all of our trails… be prepared! Dress warm, wear clothes you don't mind getting muddy and wear multiple layers (no open-toed shoes, rainboots are preferred). Helmets, goggles and gloves will be provided but feel free to bring your own.
When scheduling, please let us know and allow additional time if you need to make a flight or other scheduled connection.
Shuttle service to and from Anchorage or Eagle River is included.
