Day Trips From Anchorage
There are a bunch of nearby cities that make for great day trips from Anchorage. Take a couple hours to go for a scenic drive and book an adventure outside of the big city so that you can experience more wilderness. If you plan on just staying in Anchorage until you head north to see Denali, make the drive to Whittier to experience Alaska’s coast or to Girdwood to walk through rainforests.
If you’re planning a road trip around the Kenai Peninsula make a day trip up to Talkeetna so you can try to view Denali and explore the cute town. On your way be sure to stop in Palmer and book an ATV ride with us so we can show you the beauty of the Knik River Valley!
Renting A Car vs. Hired Transportation
There are even shuttles that go to specific cities or adventure tours, or you can look into taking the Alaska Railroad to reach your destination.
Book your rental car so that you can expand your adventure past the city, or find transportation to suit your needs. Uber does not do well outside of Anchorage, but there are many private drivers and tour companies you can use to get to the adventures below.
Keep Construction in Mind
Summertime means construction in Alaska. With only a few months without snow, our construction crews are busy improving the highways. Be sure to allow for extra time to reach your destination in case construction slows you down.
