What To Bring on Your ATV Tour
Plan your trip with our off-road reports. You’ll find articles about everything from the best trail food to activities in Alaska that are worthy of the 49th State.
Alaska is best explored when you get off the highway and into the wilderness. The key to a more enjoyable ATV experience is being prepared for all Alaska may have in store for you! Much of Alaska’s beauty comes from its wild weather, but you don’t have to be caught off guard. Make your packing list now so you can be on the lookout for good gear if you don’t own it already.
In the Summer, Alaska has long days, mild temperatures, and the chance for rain. It is best to be prepared for any weather conditions and bring rain gear and layers along with you! That way you can enjoy your ride rain or shine.
Be Prepared to Ride in the Alaskan Backcountry
The towering mountain ranges that flank the Knik Valley are beautiful to stare up at as we ride. They also can cause the weather to change which is why we emphasize you bring layers! Rain layers are great in case of weather and for splashy river crossings. If you choose an ATV over a UTV you’ll definitely want to wear some rain pants or waders to stay dry.
One of the best parts of our tours is that you get to kick up some silt and dust as you ride through the forest and coast up sand dunes. While the safety goggles we provide protect your eyes, you’ll want to bring a buff or face mask along to keep that dust out of your mouth and nose – this will make for a more enjoyable riding experience!
We also recommend clothes you are okay getting dirty in while you ride! A change of clothes for after is always a good idea.
Be prepared to be out for the full day or just over an hour. You’ll have time to take breaks, have a snack, and drink some water too so you’ll want to bring that along with you! Plus, you can’t leave your camera for filming devices behind for this tour. Bring your camera along to get some amazing shots or footage from the passenger seat or during the breaks at incredible viewpoints.
